E&EI Launches the RepublicEn Community for Energy Optimists and...

The Energy and Enterprise Initiative will resource the republicEn.org community of climate realists and energy optimists with materials, training and staff support to recruit new republicEns, educate the public about our solutions and host local events.

The Energy and Enterprise Initiative today launches www.republicEn.org to serve as a homebase for free-market climate realists.

"We find conservatives all around the country who want free-market principles applied to climate change and who want conservative leadership, but there hasn't been a home for the community of free-market climate realists," said Bob Inglis, executive director of the Energy and Enterprise Initiative. "republicEn is all about building that community."

The Energy and Enterprise Initiative will resource the republicEn community with materials, training and staff support to recruit new republicEns, educate the public about our solutions and host local events.

RepublicEns are:

  • "Energy Optimists" - folks who believe that free enterprise can light up the world faster, better, cheaper than government ever could.
"Climate Realists" - folks who know it makes sense to prepare, to conserve, to innovate, to get China "in" on reducing emissions and to enter the competition of ideas rather than leaving our energy and climate future to those who would attempt a regulatory solution.

"On Election Day 2014, Republicans won the majority in the Senate and increased their majority in the House, creating huge opportunity for real conservative reform. Now is the time to step up with free-market solutions and show the country that clean air and clean-energy innovation are best achieved by accountable free enterprise," Inglis added.

Our republicEn blog will post daily content, while our social media presence is converting from E&EI to:

  • Facebook.com/republicEn
  • Twitter.com/republicEn ; #AreYouEn

The republicEn "Are you En?" page features mini-profiles of republicEns around the country. We will be adding new profiles every week and republicEns can submit their photo and brief "I'm En because" statement here.

Below is a sampling of "I'm En" supporters the "Are You En?" page:

"I'm En because I care about comprehensive energy reform and the future of our planet." - Haley, Chicago, IL

"I'm En because I don't believe that we need to choose between free market principles and our obligation to protect the environment." - Spencer, Broward County, FL

"I'm En because I believe in accountability and the need for transparent price signals to let the free market solve our climate and energy needs." - Peter, Houston, TX

"I'm En because people matter! I believe in improving the quality of life for American families through free market solutions to the energy and climate challenges ahead." - Kelsie, Waukesha, WI
